The Ethiopian civil society organizations council (ECSOC) was established on December 31, 2020, in accordance with Article 85 of the CSO proclamation no. 1113/2019. It is governed through the full participation of all CSOs in Ethiopia and is an independent institution. The highest decision-making organ of the council is the 300 general assembly, and the Executive Committee (EXCOM) has 21 members. ECSOC currently represents over 4,400 CSOs including consortiums and associations with members growing rapidly. The council is a statuary with power and functions to Enact the Code of Conduct for the sector and devise enforcement mechanisms Advise ACSO on the registration and administration of CSOs, Represent and coordinate the civil society sector

Ethiopian civil society organizations council (ECSOC) is statutory operating as a wholly independent institution. As per CSOs Proclamation 113/2019, the council has the following power & functions:

I. Enact the Code of Conduct for the sector and devise enforcement mechanisms

II. Advise ACSO on the registration and administration of CSOs,

III. Represent and coordinate the civil society sector
